Severe Weather Plan
“When thunder roars, seek shelter”
The possibility of rain and lightning are currently in the forecast for race morning.
The event takes place rain or shine, but in the event of lightning there can be delays to the start or even a cause cancellation. We are and will continue to be in close contact with the NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) regarding the current weather conditions for race morning.

Pre race communication: At 4:00 a.m. on race morning we will be in direct contact with the NWS and will report back to you by email with the weather and event status as of that moment.
Stay tuned because if there are delays or cancellations we will communicate that by email too. Announcements will also be made in the start area.
Before the start: For race morning shelter, we recommend the Riverfront Municipal Parking Ramp across the street from the Guthrie.
Postponements: On the day of the race, if lightning strikes within our area we will delay the race in 30 minutes segments, or until it is possible to safely continue the event. If you are near the Guthrie Theater (race village) when lightning strikes, please find the nearest shelter (parking ramp across from Guthrie).
Contingencies: We also will consider course changes, such as shortening the course, if that would allow the event to take place in full in a shorter period of time.
During the run: In the event you are already on the course, and you hear thunder, please locate the nearest bridge and seek shelter. There are numerous bridges on the course.
Options: If you would prefer to run the virtual race and be mailed your shirt and medal, please fill out this transfer form and we will mail out your packet next week.
Results will begin posting at noon on race day here. Please submit any corrections within 24 hours of the race from the link on the results page. Official results and photos will be posted on Tuesday. After that age group awards will be available for pick up at a TBD location or can be mailed to you for a fee.
